Element Six

Following the development of a new corporate identity, Element Six (formerly DeBeers Industrial Diamonds) required a new multilingual website to reflect it's identity and to help it communicate effectively with all of the business stakeholders.

Element Six approached Frontend to design and develop the new website and to provide an easy to use multi-lingual content and site management system.

Frontend designed the Element Six website look & feel based on the new corporate identity guidelines and developed a comprehensive information architecture to allow site visitors to quickly and easily access the vast amount of information available on the website.

Frontend also implemented a Java based Content and Site Management System with a browser based interface that allows Element Six staff to create and edit multi-lingual content, create, edit and reorganise site pages & sections and apply different layout and colour templates to pages. The system includes publishing workflow, time based publishing rules and the ability to restrict access to pages and sections based on group membership.

Frontend developed functionality to export site content and meta data to the OASIS XML Localisation Interchange File Format (XLIFF) for localisation by a third party. The localised XML files were then imported back into system creating fully populated localised versions of the website. The site is available in 11 languages including Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), Korean and Japanese. All languages supported by the UTF-8 character set can be employed.
